I am quoted in David Ignatius’ article on the U.S. Administration’s response to Chinese influence operations. The point I make is that working through united front channels is not an avenue to influence the party leadership. These channels are controlled. The party chose these officials, because their loyalty was above suspicion and the party trusted them to operate under ambiguous circumstances.
